Founded by order of 
Doña Juana of Castile in 1532, are located to 10 km of Jaén, the south of the 
province; its extension is of  87.94 km square; the altitude on the level of the 
sea is of 636 m., with an average temperature of 16 degrees and, given the 
abundance of water, it causes that he is ideal for summering place.
  It is 
surrounded by the rivers Eliche and Riofrío.  The main culture is the olive 
tree, produces a fine oil of first quality. 
The communications are: Highway 
 C-3221 of Jaén-Alcala la Real,  JV 2216 to Fuensanta de Martos and 
 JV 2212 to Martos. 
   
Their celebrations are the 7 of October, festividad of the Virgin of the 
Rosario, and the 24 of June, San Juan Bautista, with the ROMERÍA that is 
celebrated following Sunday to the verbena. 
  
  In the 
celebrations of October he is typical the parade of "alabarderos and 
escopeteros". 
Between its monuments they emphasize the church of San Juan Bautista, the 
building of the City council and the house of vizconde of Los Villares.  
Within the municipal term two nuclei of villas in the Level ones and the 
Pandera exist. 
The manufacture of wicker objects is second source of income, that an 
economic stability provides relative.
  
In the inns and bars of Los Villares you can taste the meat of choto, 
pig and mount of own production either to go of purchases by the stores and 
supermarkets of the town and to know characteristic inlays the more like the 
garlic sausage, blood sausage, jamones etc… 
  
It visits the bakeries of the city and tastes typical desserts; in 
special the ochios, empanadas and sinsales. And the bread of course. 
  
 In the oil Cooperative "San Isidro Labrador" (953 - 320063) you have olive 
oil of great quality.
   
Los Villares is in one of the more important producing zones of the 
planet. 
Also you will find in the establishments of the packaged locality 
Mineral water in the factory  installed in the Mountain range of the Pandera 
in Los Villares.
